There is a limit as to how far you can separate the centers (up to 6 inches - see the drawings below). Our Large Ellipse Package (Standard Ellipse Package + 48PKG), employs the use of dovetailed tracks that replace the axes plate and permit the centers to be spread further apart (up to 36 inches). The 48PKG includes a set of four 48" Axes Tracks, a pair of Large Dovetailed Slides and two pairs of longer guide shafts (24" and 36"). These items are shipped in a separate tube.

To determine which ellipse package you'll need, subtract the minor axis from the major axis and divide by two. This will give you the distance you'll need between centers (the dimension which controls the shape of your ellipse)

Example: If you desire a 3 foot by 2 foot elliptical shape:

• Subtract the minor axis (24 inches) from the major axis (36 inches), which gives a 12 inch differential.
• Divide by 2 to determine the distance between centers... which is 6 inches. You can use the Standard Ellipse Package to cut this ellipse.

Micro Fence now offers longer guide shafts for making larger ellipses and/or circles . When installed in conjunction with the standard 12" guide shafts, the 24" guide shafts provide radiuses up to 3 feet (6-foot diameter), and the 36" guide shafts will allow up to 4 feet (8-foot diameter). These increased capacities are the same for either axis of an ellipse. (See size specifications below). In addition you can purchase 48" axes tracks separately to give you even more size and shape versatility.
